The Vispring story began in 1899, when British engineer James Marshall created a muslin-wrapped spring mattress for his ailing wife in Canada, marking a milestone in comfort. In 1901, John Nolon and Frederick James brought this revolutionary design to Britain, founding the Marshall Sanitary Mattress Company for commercial production. In 1911, Vispring signed its first major orders for ocean liners, including the Titanic and the Olympic. Over the years, Vispring has innovated its mattress fillings, incorporating natural materials such as horsehair, pure cotton, Shetland wool, silk and cashmere, and in 1932 introduced the world's first pocket-spring daybed.

After decades of innovation and creating custom mattresses, Vispring was honored with the Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2012, recognizing its excellence in international trade, innovation and sustainable development.
